Shake Some Bacon
By Ed D'Alessandro
Making dinner last night at my home
Everything I cooked seemed to turn out wrong
I called my momma and asked her for her tricks
She said “It’s easy, son, just shake some bacon in your mix”
You need to shake some bacon, shake some bacon
You’ll cook better with bacon shaken in your mix
My gal got mad and left me all alone
Nothing I’d do would make her come back home
I called my daddy and asked him for some tips
He said “It’s easy, son, just shake some bacon in your mix”
You need to shake some bacon, shake some bacon
She’ll come runnin’ with bacon shaken in your mix
I woke up every day feeling sad and blue
Couldn’t cheer up no matter what I’d do
I called my doctor and asked him for a script
He said “You don’t need drugs, just shake some bacon in your mix”
You need to shake some bacon, shake some bacon
You’ll be happy with bacon shaken in your mix
Had my guys over for a party the other night
No one was laughing, everyone was so uptight
Then my gal showed up with a few of her chicks
She said “This party needs to shake some bacon into the mix”
You need to shake some bacon, shake some bacon
This party’d be better with bacon shaken in the mix
I had a dream the other night that I could fly
So I flew and I flew way on up to heaven in the sky
And I asked St. Pete can I get on your list
He said “First you need to shake a lot more bacon in your mix”
You need to shake some bacon, shake some bacon
You’ll get to heave with bacon shaken in your mix
You’ll get to heaven with bacon shaken in your mix
This party’d be better with bacon shaken in your mix
You’ll be happy with bacon shaken in your mix

Wake-Up Call
By Ed D'Alessandro
You’re in my arms but I ain’t feelin’ the love
After all the time that I put you above me
You look at me like I’m two feet tall
That should have been my wake-up call
I bring it home and give it all to you
You act like you got something better to do
I got set up to take the fall
That should have been my wake-up call
I got lazy and fell asleep at the wheel
I guess I got sloppy and lost my appeal
You found yourself a whole new deal
He got a hell of a steal
You’re on your phone talking til late at night
You say it’s just a friend but something don’t seem right
I start shaking and my skin starts to crawl
That should have been my wake-up call
You smile at me but it seems so phony
You used to call me your one and only
I missed the writing on the wall
And what should have been my wake-up call
I got lazy….
I always thought that we fit like a glove
Now I can’t recall the last time we made love
I make my move but you just stall
That should have been my wake-up call
I missed the writing on the wall
I got setup to take the fall
I make my move but you just stall
That should have been my wake-up call

Storm of Pain Blues
By Ed D'Alessandro
A storm of pain
Hit me blind side
No chance to fight back
No chance to run and hide
Storm of pain came raging through my life
A storm of pain
Blew in cold and cruel
Made me a sad and lonely man
Made me such a fool
Storm of pain came raging through my life
A storm of pain
Messed up my head
I couldn’t eat and I couldn’t sleep
Or forget the words that were said
A storm of pain came raging through my life
A storm of pain
Pushed me aside
Tore up my manhood
Ripped up my pride
A storm of pain came raging through my life
Storm of pain
Stay away from my door
I already cried too much for one man
I can’t cry no more
Storm of pain came raging through my life

Puget Sound Blue
By Ed D'Alessandro
My baby up and left me, exactly why she didn’t say
But I’m optimistic she’ll come back to me one day
So I’m staying put, I’m sticking around
Got some Fremont beer to drink, while I’m Puget Sound blue
Might head up to the Market, watch a poor fish gettin’ tossed
Or drive out to the coast, see if I can keep from getting lost
Catch a late ferry, on my way back to town
See the lights of the city come on Puget Sound blue
There’s salmon swimming up ladders, they’re trying to go home
You’re the one thing that matters, when I’m lonely and on my own
Come back on a big jet, like the ones they make right here
I just can’t forget, all those moments that we shared
I’ll walk along the shore at Alki beach
Watch the big ships come in just out of reach
Grab some Spud for dinner as the sun goes down
Sitting on the sand Puget Sound blue
There’s salmon swimming…
It’s dark and it’s cool, baby, and I miss you like crazy
Ain’t seen the Mountain for days and days
The sky’s been all gray and hazy
But my door’s always open, my coffee’s fresh ground
I’ll start some brewing and wait while I’m Puget Sound blue

Green Water
By Ed D'Alessandro
They come to you from all over town
Young and old, black, white and brown
They come at sunrise
They stay through sundown
At your green water
They’re going down
Down to your green water
They’re going around
Through all the seasons, the rise and fall
They feel the need, they heed the call
With open arms
For one and all
At your green water…
When they need salvation
When they need re-creation
They find their way, above the fray, under the sway
Of your green water
They’re going down
Along the shore, beneath the shade
It’s an unbroken line, a soft parade
Heal the body and mind
And ease the pain
At your green water
They’re going down
Down to your green water
They’re going around
They’re going down

Talking Seattle Blues
By Ed D'Alessandro
Well this old city well it really wasn’t much
Salmon boats, shipyards, seaplanes, Scandinavians and such
Working folks living lives, just happy to let things be
I loved this old city, and it loved me
Then one day some young bucks they struck digital gold
It was like the gold rush way up north back yonder in days of old
Money seemed to float down from the sky, it was pastures of plenty
I loved this old city, and it was good to me
Now it’s all cocktail bars and Tesla cars and fancy restaurants where you can’t get a seat
There’s homes you can’t afford to buy, and homeless folks camped on the street
There’s lots of work except for jerks like me who can’t write computer code
Big new buildings that block the sun and make the streets seem kind of cold
Soon my local dive bar was gone and now there’s a shiny new joint that sells pot
If you make it driving downtown, good luck finding yourself a parking spot
Construction cranes up in the rain as far as the eye can see
I love this old city, but it’s slipping away from me
There’s sharrows, car-to-gos, condos and townhomes that seem to pop up overnight
You can be socialist and still be too far to the right
People standing around with their heads in the cloud, staring at a screen
I love this old city, but it’s starting to treat me mean
Now it’s all cocktail bars and hybrid cars and fancy restaurants where you can’t get a seat
There’s homes you can’t afford to buy, and homeless folks camped on the street
There’s lots of jobs except for slobs like me that can’t write code
Big new buildings that block the sun and make the streets seem kind of cold
We’re crossing that fast new floating bridge, and now we’re paying a toll
We’ve got a big new Ferris wheel so we must be on a roll
A tunnel underground to get us downtown, but now there won’t be much to see.
I love this old city, but it’s got no use for me
I’m tired of scrounging by and I’m tired of living hand to mouth
I think I’ll pack it in and move to someplace way down south
I hear there’s some great spots to live just the other side of Lacey
I love this old city, but it don’t love me.
Now it’s all cocktail bars and Uber cars and fancy restaurants where you can’t get a seat
There’s homes you can’t afford to buy, and homeless folks camped in the street
There’s lots of dough and you’re good to go as long as you’re not too old
Big new buildings that block the sun and make the streets seem kind of cold
Goodbye Seattle, hello Enumclaw, hello Sequim

Onions and Garlic
By Ed D'Alessandro
Some like women and some like men
Been like that since I don’t know when
I know what I like, and I like it a lot
Cooking onions and garlic in a pot
Some know this and some know that
Some don’t know one natural fact
I know one thing if I know squat
It’s cooking onions and garlic in a pot
Throw in some oil and turn up the heat
You got yourself a meal that can’t be beat
Whatever you add is gonna be just fine
Wouldn’t hurt to have a little bottle of wine
We’re going to hell in a hurry every day
Things are getting screwed up every which way
One thing to count on no matter what
Cooking onions and garlic in a pot
Some have houses and some have cars
Some have nothing but the sky and the stars
I’ll tell you the best thing that I’ve got
Cooking onions and garlic in a pot
Throw in some oil and turn up the heat
You got yourself a meal that can’t be beat
Whatever you add is gonna be just fine
Wouldn’t hurt to have a little bottle of wine
I love my gal and she loves me back
Sometimes we just jump in the sack
When I want to get her all bothered and hot
I cook some onions and garlic in a pot

Follow the Money Stomp
By Ed D'Alessandro
My DC rep says he’s tried and true
He’s a public servant and I tell him what to do
I look behind the curtain and what do I see
A wad of cash in his hand and who’s that yanking his leash
Follow the money if you want to know
Follow the money to find out who runs the show
My banker says his pockets are bare
All my savings vanished in thin air
I thought my bank was too big to fail
How’d that sucker get off without going to jail?
Follow the money if you want to know
Follow the money to find out who runs the show
I need a doctor, but I don’t go
I need some meds but I ain’t got the dough
I see the prices and it makes me choke
Why does getting sick gotta get me broke
Follow the money if you want to know
Follow the money to find out who runs the show
I try to vote but they won’t let me in
Tell me “come back next year son and try it again”
Why do they keep changin’ the laws
Why do they keep tryin’ to close the doors
Follow the money if you want to know
Follow the money to find out who runs the show
Follow the money, if you want to see
Follow the money, ‘cause nothing comes free
Follow the money
