The darkness and cold conspire to hostage the light
In spite of my myself, I look back and remember
When you and I walked on warm summer nights

Now the days pass fraught and slow
Our Summer’s a distant shadow

From deep in my room, I see the streetlights shatter
Through rain that slants down and patterns the pane
