November Wind
By Ed D'Alessandro

The trees sway bare and thin in the wind of November
The darkness and cold conspire to hostage the light
In spite of my myself, I look back and remember
When you and I walked on warm summer nights

Now the days pass fraught and slow
Our Summer’s a distant shadow
And the November wind begins to blow

From deep in my room, I see the streetlights shatter
Through rain that slants down and patterns the pane
I loved you too much, but what does it matter
What we had was sublime now turned to profane

Now the days pass fraught and slow
Our Summer’s a distant shadow
And the November wind begins to blow

Bare arms embrace
Long kisses I still taste
You touched my face

We lay entwined
Dancing through the rhyme
We spent each day
Outside of time

Now the days pass fraught and slow
Our Summer’s a distant shadow
And the November wind begins to blow

The trees sway bare and thin in the wind of November….
